Uninstall YTCC
YTCC is removed in Windows, like other programs. The setup program opens for the removal and asks what should happen to the projects, the settings and the databases. Other version lines on the computer are not touched.
Before you begin
- Choose a time when field monitoring may stop: after the removal, YTCC no longer runs on this server.
- You can approve administrator rights on the server.
- To keep projects with the third choice below, there must be free space on the system drive. The removal page shows it.
Steps
1. Open the removal
Open Settings › Apps › Installed apps in Windows, find the entry of the version line, for example YTCC 1.5, and choose Uninstall. The setup program opens on the Remove YTCC page.
The page lists the installation under Installations to remove. If YTCC runs now, the page says YTCC is running now: removing it stops field monitoring.
2. Choose what happens to the data
Under What should happen to the data?, choose one:
| Choice | What is removed | What stays |
|---|---|---|
| Remove the program only (recommended) | The program, the service and the shortcuts. | The projects, the config and data folders and the databases. Reinstalling the same version picks them up again. |
| Full clean-up | All databases of this version line and the installation folder, including config, data and logs. No backup is taken. This cannot be undone. | Nothing of this version line. |
| Back up the projects I pick, then clean up | As with Full clean-up, including the databases of the backed-up projects. | The backup of the selected projects outside the installation. |
For Back up the projects I pick, then clean up, tick the projects under Projects to back up; all are ticked at
first. The page shows the number of selected projects, the size of their databases, the backup location
C:\ytcc-yedek\<yyyyMMdd-HHmmss>-<line>\ and the free space there. When the space is not enough, Remove stays
disabled; free up space or select fewer projects. With no project selected, no backup is taken and a full clean-up is done.
3. Confirm the deletion (clean-up choices)
For the two clean-up choices, the page lists what will be deleted: the databases under N databases will be deleted: and
the folder under Folder to be deleted:. Only this version line's project, history and registry databases are deleted. A
database that another YTCC installation uses is never deleted and is named under Not deleted because another YTCC
installation uses it:. Type SIL under Type SIL to confirm:.
4. Remove
Click Remove and approve the administrator rights. The progress page shows the steps of your choice: Stopping the running YTCC, Backing up the projects, Removing the previous version, Deleting the databases and Deleting the installation folder.
The last page, YTCC is removed, says what was removed. With a backup it shows how many projects were backed up, where, and their size; Open the backup folder opens the folder. It also lists the databases that were deleted and anything that was skipped, with the code of the error. When the same setup package removed the installation, Continue with a clean installation goes on to install.
5. Decide when the removal stops at an error (only if it happens)
When a step fails, the removal waits on The removal stopped at an error. The page names the step and the item as Step: and item:, gives the code and the reason, says what happens if you continue, and names the log under Removal log:.
- Continue skips the failed item and goes on with the remaining steps. If a project could not be backed up, continuing deletes its data without a backup; the page says so with the project name.
- Stop does not do the remaining steps; the completed ones stay done. If the program has not been removed yet, the YTCC service has been restarted. The last page, The removal was stopped, lists what was done and what was not.
Result
With Remove the program only (recommended), the programs are removed and the data stays. With a clean-up, the service, the shortcuts, the programs and the installation folder are gone and the entry has left Settings › Apps.
The backup folder holds one .zip per project and a copy of the settings. To use the projects again, install YTCC and
import the .zip files with Import on the home page; see
Import a project package from the home page.
Silent removal for IT
ytcc-<version>-installer.exe /uninstall /quiet MODE=program|full|backup PROJECTS=a,b CONTINUEONERROR=1
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
MODE | program, full or backup: the three choices of step 2. Without MODE, no data is deleted. |
PROJECTS | With MODE=backup only: the project names to back up, separated by commas. Empty or * means all projects. |
CONTINUEONERROR | 1: an error is written to the log and the remaining steps go on. Without it, the removal stops at the first error and the setup program ends with exit code 1603. |
An invalid MODE or project name does nothing and ends with exit code 1639.
Remove several installations at once
The setup program of a new version can remove older installations before it installs: on its YTCC on this computer page, tick them and choose Remove old installations, then install fresh. See Remove old installations, then install fresh.
What stays on the server
- The backup folder
C:\ytcc-yedek. Only administrators and the user who started the removal can open it, because the backups contain the password hashes of the users. Delete it when you no longer need it. - With Remove the program only (recommended), the databases and the
config, dataandlogsfolders. - PostgreSQL and Node.js; remove them in Settings › Apps if nothing else uses them.
To destroy every trace of YTCC on a server that is taken out of service, see Destroy the data of a server.
Error codes
The removal writes these codes on the error page, on the last page and in kaldirma.log.
| Code | Step | What happened | If you continue |
|---|---|---|---|
YTCC-UNI-010, 011 | Stopping YTCC | The service did not stop in time, or the YTCC processes could not be closed. | Files of processes that did not close may not be deleted; the folder step may fail as well. |
YTCC-UNI-020, 024 | Project backup | The project list could not be read, or scada-manager was not found. | No project is backed up; the data is deleted without a backup. |
YTCC-UNI-021, 022, 023 | Project backup | A project could not be backed up, its backup could not be verified, or the space ran out. The reason is in yedek-<project>.log. | The data of that project is deleted without a backup. |
YTCC-UNI-025, 026 | Project backup | The earlier backups or the settings could not be copied to the backup. | These files are deleted with the installation folder. |
YTCC-UNI-027 | Project backup | A selected project is not in the registry, or its name is invalid. | That project is skipped. |
YTCC-UNI-030, 031 | Removing the program | The program could not be removed. The reason is in msi-kaldir.log. | The program may stay registered in Windows; the databases and the folder are still deleted. |
YTCC-UNI-040 | Deleting the databases | The databases could not be checked. | No database is deleted. |
YTCC-UNI-041 | Deleting the databases | Another program is connected to the database. It is never dropped by force. | That database stays. Close the other program and delete it with your database administrator. |
YTCC-UNI-042, 043 | Deleting the databases | PostgreSQL refused the deletion, or the name failed the check. | That database stays. |
YTCC-UNI-050 | Deleting the installation folder | A file was locked. | Restart the computer and delete the rest by hand. |
YTCC-UNI-051, 052 | Deleting the installation folder | The folder could not be verified as a YTCC installation, or the deletion script is missing. | The folder stays. |
YTCC-UNI-053 | Removing the package registration | The package registration could not be removed. | The entry may stay in Settings › Apps. |
YTCC-UNI-090 to 093 | Parameters | An invalid parameter, or the backup and log folder could not be prepared. | Nothing was done. |
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Remove stays disabled | SIL was not typed, or the backup does not fit on the drive. | Type SIL; free up space or select fewer projects. |
| The removal stopped at an error | A step failed; see Error codes. | Read the log named on the page, then choose Continue or Stop. If you stopped and the service does not run, start YTCC v15 in Services. |
| Databases remain after a clean-up | Another program was connected to them, or another installation uses them. | Close the other program and delete the databases with your database administrator. |
