Terms of use of map base layers

The Map object draws its background from map tiles: small images that a map package or a map server supplies. YTCC does not produce map data. The terms of use of the tiles are set by their provider and apply to every map that uses the source. For placing and setting up a map, see Map object.

Where the tiles come from

SourceHow it gets into the projectAttribution on the map
Map packageA server administrator uploads an offline PMTiles package (raster) with Upload package. The tiles come from the YTCC server, without internet. The attribution stored in the package; if the package has none, © OpenStreetMap
XYZ base mapDefined in the page properties under Map › Sources with + XYZ base map and the address of a tile serverThe text entered in Attribution
WMS overlayDefined there with + WMS overlay and the address of a WMS serverThe text entered in Attribution
OSM previewAdded with OSM preview next to Base map© OpenStreetMap

No base map shows only the background colour and loads no tiles.

Built-in sources

YTCC has no online source that is used by itself. The browser loads tiles from the internet only when the project defines an online source and a map uses it. Without a source, a map uses the first map package on the server, or no base map.

The only source that YTCC knows by address is the OpenStreetMap preview: https://tile.openstreetmap.org/{z}/{x}/{y}.png, zoom 0 to 19, entered into the project when you click OSM preview. Its button says: OpenStreetMap's own server: preview only. Production and offline use are not allowed; use a package in production. Use it to look at a map while you design, and replace it with a map package or a licensed map server before the project goes into operation.

Attribution

The attribution of the base map and of the overlays that are switched on is shown in the lower right corner of every map, also on the run screen. Several texts are joined with |. The attribution is plain text, not a link, and a map setting cannot hide it.

For an XYZ base map or a WMS overlay, enter in Attribution what the provider asks for, for example the copyright holder and the licence. If Attribution stays empty, no attribution is shown for that source.

A map package made from OpenStreetMap data is a work produced from that data under the ODbL licence, and its attribution is required on the map. Store the attribution in the package when you create it.

Offline and own sources

A map package is the source intended for operation: it needs no internet, and no request leaves the plant network. The terms that apply to it are those of the data it was made from. Your own map server or a WMS service of your organisation is entered as an XYZ base map or a WMS overlay; the address must start with http://, https:// or / (a path on the YTCC server), otherwise the source is not drawn.
