Several monitors

An operator station with several monitors or a video wall opens one browser window of the runtime screen per monitor, each with its own start page.

One window per monitor

The runtime screen address names the project and, optionally, the page:

http://<server>:8773/runtime.html?project=scada_proj_pump_station&page=<page id>
PartMeaning
projectThe project to show
pageThe page the window opens on: the page id or the page address from Page configuration, not the page name

Without page the window opens the Start page of the project, and without that the first page in page order. A page that does not exist falls back to the start page. Save one address per monitor, for example as a browser shortcut, and move each window to its monitor. Fullscreen (F11) in the runtime controls fills the monitor; the browser requires a click for it, so it cannot be set in the address.

What each window does on its own

  • Each window has its own session: the operator signs in in each window, and the idle timeout counts per window.
  • Navigate to Page and other actions work in the window where they were clicked.
  • A popup opens in the window where it was opened, at a position relative to that window.
  • Each window receives the values of its own open page (see Page cache and screen subscription).

Station theme rules

Station theme rules in the project settings fix the theme of the computers that match an address pattern, for example a dark theme for the control room:

FieldMeaning
NameA name for the rule
Address patternAn exact IP address, 10.0.5.* or 10.0.5.0/24
ThemeLight theme or Dark theme

The first matching rule applies, and the operator's own theme choice is then disabled. A station is recognised by its IP address, so all monitors of one computer get the same theme. The rule sets the appearance; it is not an access control.

Good to know

  • A window in the background stops receiving values after about 2 seconds; keep the windows of a video wall visible.
  • Pages for very large screens are designed at their real size; set the canvas size of the page to the resolution of the monitor (see Grid, rulers, canvas and zoom).
  • Behind a reverse proxy the station rules see the address the proxy passes on.
